FOOD TRUCK BUSINESS PLAN, BUY OR RENT

Manufacturing Food Trucks is the new business we have launched:

If we are looking for a way to make a living for ourselves, we are talking Food Trucks. To know what we mean, we need to define the term: “truck adapted for the sale of street food”. From this point on, what we have to do is choose the product to be marketed, and customize and decorate the vehicle with vinyl adding a vintage touch to the image.
A Food Truck is a vehicle adapted to prepare and dispense tasty culinary delicacies, ranging from classic hot dogs and hamburgers to tasty seafood tapas or Italian delicacies. However, not everything that glitters is gold, and after choosing the appropriate product and deciding on our target niche market, there comes an economic investment that, depending on our budget, can range between € 11,000 (VAT not included) for a Food Truck kiosk, so named because it is transported and remains on a site for an agreed period of time, or Food Truck trailer which, as its name indicates, is towed by a vehicle to short events. The latter is built with all the external accessories, cabin, headlights, wheels, mirrors … and costs around € 20,000 (VAT not included)

How to build a Food Truck?

There are 2 ways to manufacture this type of fast food vehicles:

  • The first method is to restore old vehicles, either caravans, old vans or even trucks. This has several disadvantages: the vehicle is never fully repaired and rust appears in a short space of time. Another drawback is getting official approval for our truck, as we never achieve the necessary quality control with an old-fashioned chassis.
  • The second and more important option is to manufacture the vehicle from scratch, that is to say a prototype with the corresponding models to manufacture in series the 2 examples described above.

Once the exterior of the vehicle is designed, we turn to the interior needs, which will differ in each project. We start with the electrical installation and ventilation, which requires a technician to certify a perfect installation. We recommend the machinery inside is made of stainless steel for durability, resistance and hygene. The choice of each element will depend on:

  1. Your concept.
  2. Your menu.
  3. Select simple equipment, at least at the beginning, to see how your newly launched business works.
  4. Consider buying second-hand equipment, it is not essential to have the latest. Check that it is in good condition and has a life ahead of it.
